Job Overview
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology at ABUHB has an exciting opportunity to join our well-established team. Main duties of the job
The primary focus of the role will be working to ensure continuity for the patient's journey, playing a key part in their care. You will work as an integral part of a consultant-led team in a range of settings to ensure a high quality, safe service is provided to patients.
Day-to-day duties may include undertaking out-patient clinics for both new and follow-up patients, reviewing patients on the ward before and after their operations, participating in ward rounds and assisting with surgical procedures in theatre. You need to be able to work autonomously to deliver practitioner-led care pathways. You’ll also play a part in departmental audit, research and teaching.
Every day is different, you need the ability to think on your feet, work well under pressure, and communicate with a range of healthcare professionals and non-clinical staff, as well as patients.
This role will suit a registered health care professional with extensive experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and a proven track record of commitment to professional development and innovation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications And/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- o Registered Nurse , ODP or physiotherapist
- o MSc Surgical Care Practitioner or have studied equivalent to MSc level
- o BSc (or equivalent) relevant for initial registration, ie Nursing, Operating Department practice or Physiotherapy.
- o Teaching qualification
- o Active participation in relevant clinical interest groups
- o Independent prescribing qualification

- o Extensive relevant professional experience
- o Significant postgraduate clinical experience
- o Senior postgraduate experience requiring people management skills
- o Evidence of contributing to change management and innovation in clinical practice
- o Experience of and commitment to leading clinical and organisational audit
- o Experience and awareness of research principles and finding and the impact on clinical practice
- o Experience of and commitment to teaching locally at undergraduate and postgraduate level
- o Experience of developing and implementing clinical guidelines and standards
- o Experience of supervising staff
- o Experience of presenting to a wider audience
- o Working as an autonomous practitioner at the level of a registrar
- o Experience of having worked unsupervised at a senior level
- o Managing a caseload on behalf on consultants
- o Published work in recognised journal
- o Experience of representing foundation profession in a public or professional arena
- o Experience of integrating user participation in service development
Essential criteria
- o Clinical history taking skills, clinical examination skills.
- o Ability to interpret clinical findings and apply advanced clinical reasoning to appropriately plan care independently
- o High level of experience in requesting of radiological examinations and interpretation.
- o The ability to identify and act upon adverse clinical signs
- o Ability to critically analyse research and apply to practice
- o The ability to facilitate reflective practice and learning in others.
- o Evidence of interest and contribution toward developing clinical practice including teaching
- o Evidence of multidisciplinary working.
- o Evidence of initiative
- o Good time management
- o IT skills
- o Experience of complaint management procedure
