The Supplier Quality Manager is firstly responsible for the management of supplier quality assurance processes. This person will lead a small team of inspectors and an engineer, ensuring that non-conformities are identified and controlled in a timely manner. Working closely with the Procurement team, you will ensure that constructive feedback is given to suppliers and that containment actions are carried out in a timely manner. This person has overall responsibility for assuring the quality and compliance of items procured to the site, including checking of all certification requirements against the design specification.

Functions And Responsibilities

Main Activities

1.1 Implementing the Inspection and Test Plan for incoming goods established specifically for each project and each type of material, with particular focus on inspecting elements that are critical for safety and performing FAIs (first article inspections)

1.2 Defining and implementing the Calibration Plan for Work Tools and Inspection, Measuring and Testing Equipment available in the plant

1.3 Properly maintaining the Quality Documentation in digital files (supplier certificates, calibration certificates)

1.4 Managing Incidents and Nonconformities related to items supplied by Suppliers (NCs)

1.5 Monitoring and approving changes to be implemented by Suppliers (modifications)1.6 Has responsibility and authority for stopping manufacturing activities if quality or safety requirements are not met.

1.7 Has responsibility to authorise or withhold approval for product release, where Quality standards are not satisfied.

Training required

Essential:

  • Engineering Degree, or Level 6 Equivalent Qualification

Desirable:

  • ILM Level 5, or equivalent Leadership Qualification

Required Professional Experience

  • Significant significant experience ideally in Quality Management in the rail sector, automotive industry or similar
  • Thorough understanding and work experience against the ISO9001 or IRIS standards.
  • Able to take a proactive approach to manage and provide solutions to problems in a climate of continuous improvement.
  • Able to respond and adapt to changing circumstances in a pressured environment.
  • Knowledge of UK sector laws, regulations and ISO requirements.
  • Demonstrable evidence of competence in leading and managing teams
  • Able to work flexibly across a broad range of activities as the role evolves.
  • Advanced computer skills (Office, Catia, ERP, etc.) and advanced knowledge of drawing interpretation (2D, 3D) and standards (EN, BS).
  • Basic knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) and measuring systems.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly in the UK and available to travel occasionally to the headquarters in Spain.
