As a Student Progression Mentor at EKC Canterbury College you will play a key role supporting students in their personal and academic development, helping them to reach their full potential as independent learners.
Your responsibilities will also include support for disaffected and disengaged young people, helping them to optimise their learning opportunities.
Mentoring at EKC is a rewarding role offering the successful applicant opportunities to gain qualifications in Mental Health First Aid, Autism Awareness, Counselling Concepts, Safeguarding & DUST Referrals.

We are seeking to appoint a proactive and motivated Student Progression Mentor to join our dedicated team.

What You’ll Do
- Provide tailored support to students, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions, ensuring information is shared with the relevant staff and departments.
- Offer empathetic, supportive and non-judgemental guidance, especially for students facing personal or wellbeing challenges.
- Adapt to a varied workload, responding flexibly to the changing needs of students and the College.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong record-keeping ability and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience of supporting young people with mental health difficulties (desirable).
- A positive, flexible and student-focused approach.
