Staff Nurse - Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit

Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has opened up in the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit for a Band 5 Adult registered nurse who has experience in acute medical care and emergency services.
This is open to registered nurses who are interested in a fast paced working environment and would like to develop the skills of triaging, history taking, physical assessment and providing same day emergency procedures to a variety of medical patients.
You will be joining a team of nurses, doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, medical technical assistants, emergency health care assistants in providing timely assessments and management to our acute medical patients. We receive direct GP referrals , Emergency Department referrals and Urgent treatment Care referrals to facilitate quick care pathways, liaising with appropriate speciality inputs and prevent unnecessary admissions accordingly.

- To be responsible for assessment planning and intervention in the management of acute medical patients
- To provide same -day emergency care, prompt safety and efficient management and discharge
- To work within a team that provides high quality care

- Registered General Nurse
- Current (or pending) NMC Registration
- Experience /placements in emergency care or acute medical departments

- Experience in caring for a variety of acute medical conditions
- Previous experience triaging emergency and acute medical patients

- Awareness of current professional nursing issues
- Ability to manage change within the working environment
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations
- Able to train and supervise junior
- Able to manage a team in the absence of the team leader

- To work in other areas of the department when required
- Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required
