Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine

Our Emergency Medicine department staff pride themselves on providing a high quality “shop floor” clinical presence, together with high standards of education, training, research and audit. The post holder will work in close co-operation with nursing, managerial, and medical colleagues to provide high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients

Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements: -

• To see patients attending the Emergency Department, making primary diagnosis and initiating emergency treatment. This will be at middle-grade level within the department.
• To participate in a 24-hour full shift rota
• To provide a first-class clinical service to our patients
• To provide sufficient information to colleagues during handover to ensure consistency of care and clinical safety
• To supervise and teach junior clinical staff including carrying out workplace-based assessments (WPBAs)
• To develop professionally and take part in all services development
• To engage in personal development and appraisal process – required to achieve revalidation with GMC.
