Specialist Learning Disability Dietitian
Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT)
Date: 3 weeks ago
City: Aylesbury
Contract type: Full time
Due to the internal movement of staff members, there is an exciting opportunity for a committed Dietitian to join the friendly and supportive Specialist Learning Disability Service in Buckinghamshire. The service is based across Buckinghamshire, with a base in Aylesbury, a base in High Wycombe and opportunities to work flexibly from home also. The successful candidate will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team and will join the well-established Dietetic Service. We are looking for a motivated Dietitian wanting to expand and develop their skills, or learn new skills in a learning disability setting. The post is primarily within a community setting so access to a car is essential for this role.
The post holder will work with people with a variety of clinical conditions including dysphagia, nutrition support, disordered eating and weight management.
Alongside the clinical aspect of the post, the post holder will have the opportunity to participate in assigned projects, pathway development, student training, and policy development.
Candidates should be a Registered Dietitian, with excellent communication and IT skills. A working knowledge of behaviour change and motivational interviewing would be desirable, as well as experience of working with people who have a learning disability. However we do understand some applicants may have limited experience working with learning disability service users. The post-holder will receive regular supervision from the lead dietitian and support from other specialist dietitians working within the field plus an opportunity to undertake further training as required to support the role.
Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) is an outstanding organisation with ambitions to match. We are one of just five mental health trusts to achieve an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission, and our aim is to be the leading provider of mental health and specialist learning disability services in the country.
Our family of over 3500 members of staff provide health and social care for over 400,000 people with mental ill health, physical ill health and learning disabilities across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Norfolk, delivering these services within the community and several inpatient settings.
