This is an amazing time to be joining the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST) Quality, Safety and Patient Experience Directorate who are continuing their journey supporting service users in Wales to access the right care, treatment and health information first time for urgent and emergency health needs. To ensure that these services are clinically led and quality-driven, WAST has developed and invested in a clinical leadership structure specifically focusing on remote clinical care. The successful candidate will be dynamic and passionate about providing high-quality care for service users across NHS Wales. They will have specialist skills in respiratory disease and specialist respiratory services, a clinical awareness of remote clinical care decision-making and triage, and have the skills and knowledge to combine both specialisms to deliver high-quality care to patients when making contact with WAST.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The primary role of the Specialist Clinician Remote Care (Respiratory) will be to contribute to the Trust’s clinical agenda by providing strong professional clinical leadership within remote clinical care to the remote clinical team, both qualified and non-qualified colleagues.
Working in partnership with senior management teams, ensure the development and maintenance of sound clinical and quality performance management arrangements and the development of clinical and quality performance measurement systems. Along with the Consultant Clinician, they will be accountable for the assurance and improvement of the requisite clinical and quality metrics determined by the organisation.
The post-holder will be a key role in the clinical development and delivery of remote clinical care, contributing to the overall operational and strategic development of the Trust to deliver remote clinical triage services of the highest possible standards. In addition, this role will work with specialist groups to develop opportunities for the organisation to increase its clinical delivery abilities.
The post holder will be clinically accountable to the Trust for leading a clinical service, ensuring the delivery of key objectives across a broad set of clinical priorities within remote clinical decision-making and telephone triage; and working in partnership with Health Board colleagues with a specific clinical focus in GP Out of Hours.
