Contract type: Full time
The Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Haywards Heath is part of the University Hospital Sussex NHS FoundationTrust which has five main hospital sites (seven hospitals) in Sussex.
We provide District General hospital services to our local population in and around Brighton and Hove, Mid Sussex and the western part of East Sussex and more specialised and tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the South East of England.
The Urology department at PRH has expanded recently due to the opening of our new Urology Investigation and Treatment Centre (UITC), and there is now the opportunity for a Band 7 Sonographer to join the team.
The post holder will work to support the Urology team in the provision of a professional ultrasound service. They will need to be able to perform and report independently on a wide range of ultrasound examinations. They will be required to perform Lithotripsy (extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy - ESWL), for the treatment of renal and ureteric stones, for which they should have a willingness to learn and training will be given as necessary.
You must be enthusiastic with excellent communication skills in order to liaise effectively with the multi-disciplinary teams and strive to provide high standards of care. You will be highly motivated and dedicated to your role and own personal development. Ideally you would have experience in urology or cancer settings.
The urology team comprises of committed and supportive Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists and other medical and nursing colleagues. Working collaboratively, we aim to ensure that our patients are supported and cared for to a standard that ensures excellent patient experience and clinical outcomes.
At UHSussex, diversity is our strength, and we want you to feel included to help us always put the Patient First. Your uniqueness and experiences will be part of our creative and innovative community where everyone is encouraged to succeed. We have a range of Staff Networks to help break down barriers, and can offer a buddy to help new members settle in. We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) and a Veteran Aware Trust.
We treat our patients and staff with the same compassion and empathy we expect for ourselves. We’re here for them when they need us, and we go above and beyond to meet their needs. This can be seen in our Wellbeing Programme for staff which is extensive and designed to support you when you need it, including where possible, flexible working to support work life balance - because we know that to look after others we must first look after ourselves.
As a university trust and a leader in healthcare research, we value learning, teaching and training so that we can be the best that we can be. From the moment you start with us and throughout your career we will help you to grow and develop. We hope that in choosing UHSussex you are choosing a long and happy career where you will be able to see the difference you make and feel valued for all that you do.
