We have an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect who will Report into the Senior Solution Architect. The Solution Architect will design solutions and create architectural documents that meet requirements for projects to which the role holder is assigned, this includes artefacts such as roadmaps, high and low-level designs. Signed off through the various governance bodies including the Technical Review Board, Business Review Board and Architecture Review Board.


The post holder will design appropriate transitional stages within the projects, ensure that the impacts of proposed changes to our IT estate are understood and input into improving the solution architect practice as well as maintaining relevant baseline and future state views within the architecture repository.


What the role will look like:

  • Be able to perform impact analysis of change requests on technology and application landscapes.
  • Takes responsibility for understanding, collecting and documenting data and information, delivering analysis and problem resolution. Identifies, evaluates and recommends solution options.
  • Ensure that solutions minimize complexity and maximise reuse and clearly address the 'problem' we're trying to solve.
  • Assess and communicate the business impact of technical options selected. • Be able to define target and transitional states of solution design.
  • Be able to oversee a full project lifecycle.
  • Be able to model architecture views and maintain architecture repository using industry leading toolsets.
  • Contribute to and maintain the common architectural repository and relevant architectural artefacts producing documentation of a high quality to enable decisions or drive delivery.
  • Ensuring all decision points, building blocks, design principles, design rationale, roadmaps and all interdependencies are understood, documented and communicated, where appropriate.
  • Be able to support Business Analysis function in defining functional and nonfunctional requirements and operational designs.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor providing specialist and technology expertise to stakeholders thereby facilitating the right decisions to be made or highlighting areas of risk where appropriate.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A good understanding of software / project lifecycle and methodologies.
  • Cloud services (Azure & OCI preferred) and deployment models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
  • Good understanding of compute, storage and network technology and technology platforms.
  • Service and micro-service architecture is preferable.
  • A good understanding of application integration techniques and patterns.
  • High level understanding of all architecture domains such as Application, Data, Technology and Security
  • Be able to work with wider teams and end users.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Passion for technology and problem solving through technical solutions.
  • Previous solution architect experience and ideally experience within Financial Services.
  • Be able to translate business requirements to solutions.
