Software Product Manager
Roke is a world-class technology and engineering consultancy. Roke delivers advanced research, development services and products to high profile Defence, National Security and Government customers who come to Roke with varied and challenging problems to solve.
The ideal candidate will have experience of SaaS Product Management in the Defence, National Security and Government markets as a minimum. If the candidate has experience in selected commercial markets such as commodities, mining and Oil and Gas this would be a bonus. This is an exciting opportunity to make a big impact in fast-growing Information Operations domains.
The Roke SaaS platform Crucible enables our customers to identify potential threats and opportunities by automating data collection, processing, and aggregation of curated open-source intelligence (OSINT) and other commercial datasets. Fusing these datasets in a centralised source of truth removes the manual data collection from the analyst’s workflow, thus enabling the customer to focus on the analysis and understanding of the data. Roke also has deep expertise in conducting intelligence analysis, and these services are consumed by our clients to complement the customers' own teams.
Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities
The Software Product Manager's oversees the entire product lifecycle, from conception to retirement. They are responsible for ensuring a product meets market needs, aligns with business goals, and delivers value to users and stakeholders. This involves defining product vision, roadmap, and features, collaborating with engineering, sales and marketings teams, and continuously improving the product.
Key Responsibilities:
Defining Product Vision and Strategy: The Product Manager articulates the product's purpose, target audience, and how it will create value. They will develop business cases for R&D investment and the level of effort required to build these capabilities. They should be a role model for Product Management for the business unit.
Understanding Customer Needs: They conduct market research, gather user feedback, and analyse data to understand customer needs and preferences. They should be able to demonstrate the platform to support client engagement.
Collaborating with Teams: They work with the companies CTO, Head of engineering, Product marketing, and Head of sales to ensure the product is built effectively and aligned with the vision. The Crucible Product Manager will also share best practices with other Product managers across Roke.
Prioritizing Features: They develop and prioritise a product backlog based on customer needs, market trends, and business objectives. For example, they will determine what is constitutes one off bespoke customisation for a specific customer and what features will form part of an overall platform.
Managing Product Development: They oversee the product development process, including planning releases, tracking progress, and ensuring quality. They will own the product roadmap.
Technical Skills: They need to understand basic technical concepts and be able to communicate effectively with engineers.
Analytical Skills: They must be able to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed decisions by understanding the competitive landscape to help identify gaps in the market and build a differentiated platform.
User-Centric Thinking: They must be able to put themselves in the shoes of the user and understand their needs.
Skills & Experience:
* Demonstrable experience Product Management of SaaS and on premise platforms especially in the data analytics, information processing or intelligence domains.
* Ideally Defence and National Security markets experience
* An understanding of what makes OSINT, GEOINT, data analytics and intelligence platforms unique and how this to be applied to a given client’s challenges and be able to talk in the client’s language.

GLOUCESTER - Alongside hybrid and flexible working options, you’ll find our Gloucester site in a business park two minutes from junction 11A of the M5; The site allows easy access to our local customer base. Set on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, you are never far from a picturesque view or lunch time walk.
