About Us

Founded in 2016 as a spin-out from Newcastle University, Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) is based in Washington, Tyne and Wear—just a short distance from the vibrant cities of Newcastle and Durham.

We design and manufacture cutting-edge, sustainable electric motor and powertrain technologies for global customers. Our rare earth-free solutions are reshaping the future of electrification, helping to leave more copper and rare earth materials in the ground—where they belong.

Backed by a recent seven-figure investment from a Tier 1 global supplier, we’re scaling up and expanding our reach. Our technology is trusted, our ambition is bold, and our team is growing.

We have big plans and want to make a difference. Do you?
