Shift Quality Control (QC) Chemist

Position Context:

To provide analytical services to Operations, the Business and its customers on a 12 hour shift system (Days/Nights) providing accurate and timely analysis of plant and import / export samples.

Main tasks:


  • Quality Control testing of raw materials, bulk, intermediate, and finished products to established procedures, to determine conformance to accepted specifications for a particular chemical or physical property.
  • Follow methods and procedures.
  • Ensure all analysis recorded and LIMS updated.
  • Performing a variety of tests to aid in maintenance and certification of test instruments and apparatus
  • Preparing reagents, solutions, instruments, and apparatus according to established procedures to support the testing activities of the unit
  • Carry out daily housekeeping in Laboratory
  • Recording and interpreting results
  • Troubleshooting of analytical and instrument problems
  • Vent Monitoring
  • Analysis of drummed products, outside storage samples and non-routine samples

Required skills:

HNC/Degree in Chemistry is preferred

Analytical Experience In a Similar Role Is Essential

Experience working a Shift pattern

An understanding of manufacturing and chemical plant processes would be advantageous

Must be eligible to work in the UK

Excellent IT skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft excel

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
