Job Description: Service Line Finance Manager
The opportunity
The Service Line Finance Manager role is key to providing this fast growing and complex business with effective financial management and controls while providing decision support and financial analysis. The successful candidate will work as a business partner with senior service line management and help to develop a strong culture of financial awareness, commerciality and accountability.
The role will require the individual to provide financial information, produce monthly accounts, annual budgets and forecasts while ensuring compliance with firm and business procedures and policies. A key part of the role will be presenting this information and analysis to the end user, highlighting variances and actions accordingly.
Candidates will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn the basic rudiments of finance work including significant processing and checking, they will need to build relationships both within the team and the business and have ability to problem solve to overcome constraint.
This role is in a fast-changing evolving environment where change is part of the norm. Therefore, the ideal candidate will need to be flexible and have the ability to deal with change on an on-going basis.

Your Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will
- Work with senior management to understand the financial information available and agree priorities and actions.
- Ensure that the information / reports / analysis provided to the business are relevant, timely, and accurate and enable senior management to run the business.
- Develop effective working relationships with Operations, Leadership and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain an overview of key business issues at all times. Extrapolates key messages from the numbers and shares these timely with Senior Leadership both in Finance and the business.
- Deliver robust month-end process. Results are understood quickly. Performance commentaries are timely, insightful and action oriented.
- Contribute towards completion on time of the various EY Plan/Forecast/Business Planning exercises.
- Understand issues relating to working capital and ensure linkage with Markets Finance team on understanding the path for resolution.
- Process improvement: help support the wider performance improvement initiatives. Ensure the Finance team’s processes are as efficient as possible whilst constantly looking to streamline where possible.
- Be seen as a stakeholder for the Account & Control team on ensuring journals are processed in a timely manner, are accurate and variances are investigated.
- Lead / participate fully in projects and ad-hoc analysis as required.
- Act as a role model and active contributor to the wider Finance team, collaborating cross Service Line and Business Unit.
The successful candidate will have:
- Preferably a qualified accountant e.g. CIMA, ACCA with a strong track record of financial management and controls, ideally in a professional services firm.
- Demonstrates curiosity through a continuous learning mindset
- Excellent written and oral communication skills displaying confidence when explaining complex financial issues to Senior Management
- Robust, resilient, calm under pressure.
- Proactive, organised and self-sufficient working style with ability to prioritise and multitask.
- Customer focused and responsive with good commercial acumen / judgement.
- Embraces change and through self-awareness, adapts behaviour
- Strong computer skills (advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Able to manipulate, analyse and interpret data from a variety of sources.
- Able to demonstrate project management experience / skills.
- Strong team player who maintains personal well-being to sustain positive energy
