Danfoss Power Solutions is looking for a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer specializing in hydraulic systems to work in its Digital Displacement innovation center located in Edinburgh, Scotland. In this position, you will work in a team developing and supporting Digital Displacement applications for mobile off-highway machinery.

Job Responsibilities
As our new Senior Systems Engineer, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop prototype hardware and software from concept to implementation
  • Perform tests to evaluate the performance of prototype systems and analyse the data
  • Support customer applications from beginning to end
  • Deliver viable concepts to the product development team
  • Provide support to other departments as required by the product development team
  • Assist with the preparation of patent filings
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of innovations in this field, identify opportunities, and conduct independent research

Background & Skills
To succeed in this position, we are expecting you to have:

  • A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering alongside demonstrable relevant work experience, or a PhD in the field of fluid power research and development
  • Simulation and modelling experience, particularly the use of model-based design to develop control systems using Matlab Simulink
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of data acquisition and data analysis
  • Working knowledge of control theory concepts
  • Basic or working coding/programming knowledge
  • Practical mechanical and electrical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel

Desirable is if you have experience of some of the following:

  • Experience with CAN bus communication
  • Customer interaction experience, particularly working with large OEMs
  • Experience with excavators, heavy machinery, on or off-highway vehicles
  • 3D CAD experience, e.g., Solidworks or Siemens NX
