FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Project Manager to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Solihull.


Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager who will lead and deliver mobilisation, transition and exit projects across the full lifecycle, from definition through to closure, either as part of a wider programme or on a stand-alone basis. The role holder will also participate in major bids (TCV £100m to £1bn), collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to define and plan the mobilisation, transition and exit approach. The Senior Project Manager is expected have substantial experience defining and leading large-scale projects in a complex and demanding environment.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the project across the full life cycle in accordance with the client’s project methodology
  • Drive performance of the project such that specified outputs and the overall business case are both achieved
  • Actively use project controls (plans, governance, reporting, RAID, etc.) to ensure high quality and predictable project outcomes
  • Actively manage risks, issues and ensure decisions and escalations arising from project RAID are taken to project boards
  • Bid response, plan and cost model demonstrate in adherence to the client’s methods and promote their capability and use of industry good practice
  • Business case production and maintenance
  • Project budget development and its ongoing management/maintenance
  • Lead, manage and motivate all project team resources
  • Identify and manage stakeholders, ensuring excellent standards of communication
  • Day to day leadership and management of the project and project team to achieve transition end state successfully, under control, and in accordance with industry good practice methods
  • Provision of effective leadership and management controls including stakeholder and client management


Requirements

  • Project Management qualification / certification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, PMI etc)
  • Experience of full lifecycle project delivery in a complex operating environment and managing the multiple constraints (time, quality, cost)
  • Experiencing of bidding (specifically in relation to project/transition management) in a complex business
  • Expertise in industry project delivery methods and standards (e.g., PRINCE2 or equivalent), and their relationships to programme lifecycles
  • Experience of working in a high-pressure environment and managing multiple demands at once
  • Ideally, experience working for an outsourced service provider
  • Knowledge of project and programme management methodologies / approaches and their application in a complex business
  • Knowledge of project governance and assurance and its interrelationship with programme and portfolio governance
  • Knowledge of different business functions/ disciplines (i.e., finance and commercial, operations, safety, risk, HR, operational excellence, IT, sales, marketing, and communications) and comfortable working in a complex environment
  • Advanced MS Office Skills, including Project (Project Online), Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
