We’re now seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our growing team at Shawbury. This is a newly created role within our Physical Testing division – offering the opportunity to shape processes, strengthen client partnerships, and contribute to our continued growth and success.

The Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of multiple complex programmes, ensuring successful delivery from quotation through to completion. You’ll champion the consistent use of project management tools and systems, providing real-time visibility into project progress, milestones, and resource planning.

You Will

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of multiple technical projects and programmes.
  • Drive operational efficiency through process improvements and system optimisation.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key clients through regular communication and reporting.
  • Prepare and present executive-level reviews, outcomes, and performance metrics.
  • Support proposal preparation for complex and high-value work packages.
  • Represent Smithers MDT at conferences, exhibitions, and client meetings to raise our technical profile.

About You

You’ll bring a strong blend of technical understanding, commercial acumen, and project leadership experience. You’ll be confident managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and skilled in stakeholder communication at all levels.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in a technical or project management role, with at least 2 years managing complex technical programmes.
  • Experience in client-facing roles and multi-project coordination.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office and project management tools.

Desirable

  • Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Experience within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or laboratory testing sectors.
  • Experience preparing technical proposals.
  • Foreign language skills (French, German, or Spanish).
