BCHA
Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Bournemouth
Contract type: Full time

BCHA is a charitable housing association that provides housing, support, and learning opportunities to vulnerable individuals and families across the South and South West of England. We support people who are homeless, fleeing domestic abuse, recovering from addiction, affected by mental health challenges, or escaping modern slavery. BCHA offers a range of services including safe and supported accommodation, outreach programs, training in life and employment skills, and access to trauma-informed support.
Position:
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Practitioner to lead the operational delivery of BCHA’s Domestic Abuse Community Teams. This includes managing a range of vital services such as one-to-one outreach support for survivors, the operation of our domestic abuse helpline, the facilitation of structured recovery programmes, and the coordination of community-based drop-in sessions. Your leadership will be key in guiding a skilled and compassionate team to deliver high-quality, person-centred support that empowers individuals to rebuild their lives safely and with dignity.
You will also have direct responsibility for our Family Intervention Team, which delivers targeted interventions to children and young people who have witnessed domestic abuse. This includes overseeing the delivery of the Recovery Toolkit programme, designed to help children process trauma, build resilience, and move towards emotional healing.
This is a pivotal leadership role within BCHA, requiring a deep understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding, alongside strong operational and people management skills. You will play a central part in shaping services that not only respond to crisis but also support long-term recovery and change for both adults and children affected by domestic abuse and exploitation.
In return, we offer:
BCHA Safer Recruitment: Safeguarding children and adults is our first priority and we will ensure we follow safer recruitment procedures.
As an employer, we will do everything possible to prevent unsuitable people obtaining employment with BCHA. Our overall aim is to ‘deter unsuitable applicants from applying for roles with children and adults, and we will ensure that all candidates are treated fairly, consistently and in compliance with current legislation.
BCHA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of people, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
Closing date: 08/08/25.
Requirements:
Experience in managing domestic abuse support services or similar services Knowledge and experience of Domestic abuse services Strong proven experience in the use of case management systems Excellent understanding of Safeguarding of Children & Adults and relevant legislation A proven ability to think critically and creatively and impact on, and influence, performance and outcomes using a solution-focussed approach
