Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Band 6 Neurological Occupational Therapy rotation. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge within a varied and complex neurological caseload across the continuum of care from the acute setting into the community. We are passionate about the role of Occupational Therapy in neurology with a key focus in all areas on occupational focused assessment and intervention.
Main duties of the job
This position would involve 12 month rotations in the following clinical areas:
Lotus Rehabilitation Centre- a 26 bedded rehabilitation unit providing specialist multidisciplinary rehabilitation for adults with stroke or complex neurological needs
Acute Neurology Team- A neuro specialist MDT delivering assessment and intervention for patients with a broad range of neurological conditions. Our input can start on ICU and continues through to the acute wards making the caseload interesting and varied.
Hyper acute and Acute Stroke Unit- a 34 bedded unit, one of the largest in the country, working in a strong integrated therapy team to deliver early assessments and interventions to stroke patients.
In each rotation you will be working as a part of an integrated multidisciplinary team. You will be supervised and supported by a specialist band 7 Occupational Therapist, this will include regular supervision, 1:1 joint patient sessions and individualised training. This position will offer opportunities for junior staff supervision, participation in quality improvement project and audits. Regular in house training is provided as well as peer support across the neurological pathway. There is also the opportunity to apply for specialist CPD external funding to further enhance and develop your skills within neurology.
