IN A NUTSHELL

As a leading sports nutrition and health food manufacturer, we produce a wide range of products including powders, capsules, tablets and soft gels at our own manufacturing facility. We also work with trusted UK and EU-based partners to develop our food products.

A senior opportunity has opened up within our Innovation Team, with a primary focus on expanding and renovating our internally produced powder products. This role is central to maintaining our position as a market leader in sports nutrition and driving innovation across the UK and EU.

You’ll work closely with the Innovation Manager and Head of Innovation, as well as collaborating cross-functionally with teams across Regulatory, FSQ, IPP and Brand. You’ll also build relationships with both new and existing suppliers to bring innovative ideas to life and drive them through from concept to launch.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• Formulate and flavour market-leading sports nutrition products: Use your technical knowledge and creativity to develop high-performance powder-based products that meet customer expectations for taste, texture, efficacy and nutrition. You’ll lead on flavour system selection, ingredient pairing and sensory improvements to deliver standout products in a competitive market.
• Produce EFSA-compliant product content: Write clear, accurate and regulation-compliant product descriptions and supporting articles for the website. You’ll ensure all claims and nutritional information align with EFSA and UK guidelines while maintaining an engaging tone that speaks to our customers.
• Build strong supplier relationships: Act as the primary contact for new and existing ingredient and flavour suppliers. You’ll manage negotiations on pricing and lead times, stay informed on new ingredient innovations, and ensure suppliers align with our quality and sustainability standards.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers for timely delivery: Work collaboratively with our Purchasing Team and external partners to keep ingredient and sample deliveries on track. You’ll help identify and solve potential delays early to maintain launch timelines and production schedules.
• Support Customer Service with technical queries: Provide expert guidance and clear explanations to help the Customer Service Team respond to product-related enquiries. Your insights will help customers better understand product function, ingredients and usage.
• Write and proof product copy for artwork: Collaborate with the Brand and Design teams to produce accurate, on-brand product copy for packaging and digital assets. You’ll also review and approve final artwork, ensuring all information is clear, compliant and aligned with Bulk’s tone of voice.
• Manage projects from concept to launch: Own product development projects end-to-end, coordinating cross-functional teams and keeping timelines and deliverables on track. You’ll be responsible for bringing ideas to life and ensuring every launch meets our high standards.
• Reformulate and improve legacy products: Revisit and enhance existing products in the Bulk range. Whether it’s updating ingredients, improving flavour or refining texture, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our legacy products remain competitive and relevant.
  
  
  

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Ideally, you'll hold a degree in Sports Science, Food Science, Nutrition or a related field
• A strong personal or professional interest in sports nutrition - deally with firsthand experience using sports nutrition products and a good understanding of key products, trends and competitors in the market
• At least 3 years of experience in new product development (NPD) or a similar product innovation role
• Hands-on experience in formulating and flavouring powder-based products, with an understanding of sensory evaluation and functional ingredients
• Confident communication skills and a collaborative mindset - you're a team player who can work cross-functionally across departments and with external partners
• A keen eye for detail and the ability to spot opportunities to improve product performance, customer experience or process efficiency
• Proven experience in managing projects from concept to launch, with strong organisational and time-management skills
• A solid understanding of EFSA health claims and how they apply to product development and marketing.
