About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative and strategic Senior Procurement Manager to lead our Direct Commodities and Sourcing team and drive the sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management activities across key spend categories.


The Senior Manager Commodities & Sourcing is an adaptable leader who will lead a team of Direct Commodity Managers across multiple Business Areas for all Direct commodities. This individual will report to the Associate Director of Supply Chain and must have the ability to communicate at senior levels within the business and partner in a collaborative manner with suppliers and cross-functional teams including, Finance, Contracts, Quality, Manufacturing, Programmes and Legal in support of sourcing strategies and other initiatives. This role is pivotal in delivering cost-effective and resilient supply solutions that contribute to business goals.

This role will have the opportunity for development by deputising for the Associate Director of Supply Chain at Senior/Director level reviews and regular interaction and dialogue at Director level.


Skills And Experience

  • Experience in Supply Chain, Subcontract Management, Procurement, Commodity and/or related field in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Ability & Experience to lead a medium sized team with focus on policy and strategy implementation, along with operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of goals of the function.
  • Proven track record of delivering strategic sourcing results across complex categories in the Aerospace and/or Military (UK MoD and US DoD) sector.
  • Negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills that addresses supplier non-performance and dispute resolution.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of global supply markets.
  • Excellent communication and people leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Knowledge of import/export legislation requirements (ITAR/EAR/UK Export Control)
  • Programme management skills (IPDS/Risk Management/Programme Governance//Business Finance)
  • Experience in data analytics and development, implementation and management of Supply Chain Metrics and KPI’s
  • Experience of working with complex suppliers and programmes across the full lifecycle (proposal, design & development, production and sustainment)


Desirable

  • Experience working with cross functional/cross business unit teams on high visibility projects
  • Supply Chain Digital Technology transformation and automation experience
  • Experience in development of operational plans that generates processes and standards in support of the functional strategy and goals.
  • Related MCIPS/BA/MBA or equivalent


Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the team by setting objectives and goals, coaching and developing talent to enable a high performing team that meet all required business and functional goals and metrics.
  • In collaboration with the wider RTX enterprise, execute strategic sourcing plans and drive Synergy Savings.
  • Develop, execute and optimise short and long-term sourcing strategies for multiple commodities ensuring alignment across teams
  • Implement and manage strategies that ensure the supply chain can withstand, recover from, and adapt to lower tier and geopolitical disruptions and maintain operational continuity.
  • Participate in key agreement negotiations and be the main escalation point for resolution of significant relationship and contractual issues
  • Understand and utilise contractual terms to impact the business favourably
  • Leverage business agreements to drive organisational value and develop win-win solutions with suppliers.
  • Influence multi-disciplinary teams and develop strong, positive partnerships to achieve measurable operational targets
  • Understand and proactively engage in the emerging technological landscape needs for incorporation into the Strategic Sourcing process
  • Develop long term strategic relationships with suppliers’ leadership team that can be leveraged to positively impact business results
  • Drive cost savings projects and commodity strategies to achieve financial plan targets and supplier performance
  • Ensure alignment and provide support for Corporate/Business initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvements into the organisation utilising continuous improvement tools
  • Ensure compliance with all Export, Ethics and corporate policies and initiatives
