Key Responsibilities

To provide high-quality, proactive HR advice and support to managers and employees across the employee lifecycle. Work with the HR operations team to ensure people processes run smoothly and are compliant with legislation and best practice. This role plays a key part in developing line manager capability, managing ER casework, and contributing to people initiatives that support business goals.

Employee Relations & Casework

  • Advise and guide managers on a wide range of ER issues, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance management.
  • Ensure timely and fair resolution of cases in line with employment law and organisational policy.
  • Manage more complex or sensitive casework independently or in partnership with external legal advisors/Senior HR leadership.
Manager Support & Coaching

  • Build trusted relationships with Business managers and Engagement managers.
  • Provide coaching and capability-building to empower managers in handling people matters confidently and consistently.
  • Ensure people policies are applied fairly and effectively.
Policy, Process & Compliance

  • Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures, supporting continuous improvement of HR frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, organisational policy, and audit requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new HR policies and guidelines.
Projects & Initiatives

  • Support or lead on people projects, e.g. apprentice programme, EDI, or performance culture.
  • Contribute insights from the business to support and shape HR initiatives.



Skills, Knowledge and Experience

The successful candidate will have a combination of the below attributes – this is not a check list:

Experience
  • HR generalist experience, including managing ER casework from end to end.
  • Experience advising and coaching managers in a geographically dispersed, matrixed, or complex organisation.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and managing competing priorities.
  • Evidence of policy development or supporting change projects
Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficient in HRIS and Microsoft Office tools; confident using data for insight.
