Senior FPGA Engineer

IC Resources

Date: 3 weeks ago
City: Cambridge
Contract type: Full time
We’re working with a pioneering Cambridge-based technology company developing cutting-edge compute systems for next-generation applications. As they expand their customer enablement capabilities, they’re seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer with strong technical depth and a passion for solving problems in the field.

This is a hybrid role combining hands-on RTL design with customer-facing deployment and integration—around 20% of your time will be spent supporting key partners across the UK and Europe. You’ll be the technical bridge between the internal engineering team and external clients, ensuring seamless deployment and optimisation of advanced FPGA systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Drive end-to-end integration of FPGA-based platforms into customer systems
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and research teams to optimise performance
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support, including bring-up, debug, and tuning
  • Guide customers through synthesis, implementation, timing closure, and verification
  • Customise and adapt RTL to meet specific deployment needs
  • Contribute field insights to influence product development and roadmap

Key Experience Required

  • Strong experience with AMD/Xilinx FPGA platforms (e.g. MPSoCs, RFSoCs, Ultrascale+)
  • Expertise in large-scale SoC architectures, high-speed interfaces, or hardware accelerators
  • Proven capability in debugging and improving complex systems in both lab and field
  • Comfortable working with RTL flows (SystemVerilog/VHDL), IP integration, and test development
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive mindset
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites within the UK and Europe (~20%)

Bonus Experience

  • Experience in pre-sales technical support or customer success roles
  • Familiarity with custom compute platforms or low-latency applications
  • Knowledge of systems involving CPU–accelerator integration and high-throughput data paths

This is a unique opportunity to join a technically advanced team in a hybrid engineering/customer-facing role, with a clear impact on mission-critical deployments across Europe.
