Jacobs

Date: 3 hours ago
City: Bristol
Contract type: Full time
At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

As a key member in our Bridges & Structures team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how we deliver value to our clients—supporting our transition to a solutions-focused provider through the adoption of new technologies, lean methodologies, and digital delivery processes. With a strong emphasis on sustainability and decarbonisation, you’ll apply your advanced technical expertise, leadership, and organisational skills to deliver innovative structural solutions across highways, rail, aviation, energy, and power sectors.

In this role, you will

  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams in structural analysis, feasibility studies, tender and detailed designs, and the preparation of contract documents and technical reports.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated, high-quality services that meet client needs and exceed expectations.
  • Champion innovation and diverse thinking to identify best-value solutions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with our UK and Global Integrated Delivery teams to optimise resources and ensure efficient, successful project outcomes.

Our Structural Solutions capability is part of Jacobs’ wider Transportation business, known for delivering technically complex schemes both in the UK and internationally. Our large and diverse team has earned a strong reputation through a portfolio of high-profile projects with clients including High Speed 2, National Highways, Network Rail, Welsh Government, National Contractors & Local Authorities.

Let’s build for a brighter future together. If you’re ready to lead with purpose, innovate boldly, and make a lasting impact—join our Structural Solutions Group.

Here's what you'll need

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline
  • A professional qualification (or close to achieving)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and time management skills
  • Project management skills related to bridge design or other disciplines
  • Strong technical design and practical problem-solving skills
  • Candidates may have a background in bridge design, however, we are equally interested to hear from candidates from other disciplines and industries.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in asset management, structures renewals and post-tensioned structures, including post-tensioned special inspections (PTSI).
