Senior Bridge Engineer
Glasgow
Permanent Position

Office/Home Hybrid Working

Do you want to be part of a consultancy that says ‘No’ to fossil fuel projects? Can you design a sustainable future? Are you a chartered bridge engineer? Then, shape a sustainable and liveable world with us.

Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow

To build up the capacity of our Bridge team in Glasgow, we are looking for a Senior Engineer to join us. Working on some of the UK’s most innovative projects, you'll have the opportunity to grow your career in an organisation that cares deeply about both the environment and the technical excellence we deliver to our clients.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Designing, checking or assessment tasks across a wide range of both new and existing bridges or other complex structures
  • Liaising with clients and mentoring junior staff to ensure your projects are delivered on time and to budget with a high standard of technical quality
  • Production of engineering design and details, or for undertaking checking or assessment work in accordance with project requirements
  • Preparation of analysis models, calculations, written reports, and other contract deliverables, and for checking similar work by other engineers
  • Working closely with our CAD/BIM technicians to prepare 2D and 3D design drawings and models
  • Delivering your work to a high technical standard, ensuring accuracy through a conscientious approach to self-checking
  • Visits to site as required

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you’ll have:

  • A master's degree in either civil or structural engineering and be chartered with either the ICE or IStructE or an equivalent institution
  • Proven post-graduate experience in a design environment working on bridges, heavy civil, or other complex structures
  • Some experience of motivating, supervising, and coordinating project teams.
  • Familiarity with UK design standards, Eurocodes and CDM regulations
  • The inter-personal skills and aptitude to work collaboratively in a diverse multi-disciplinary team
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to demonstrate a deep understanding and enthusiasm for structural engineering and a personal commitment to technical excellence
