We’re looking for a Senior Electronic Design Engineer with deep experience in IoT hardware development to lead the design and delivery of advanced, low power connected products. You’ll play a key role in developing next-generation sensor and telemetry solutions — from concept to deployment — helping us build smart, reliable, and efficient electronics for challenging field environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership, leadership responsibility, and room to shape the direction of our product platform. You will work on a variety of exciting projects, often to tight deadlines. Good time management skills are essential for the successful Senior Electronic Design Engineer. You will be part of an experienced team with a positive working environment and the scope to take charge of your own projects and develop your career.
More about the role:
- Lead the design of embedded electronics for IoT applications, including low-power systems, MCU selection, and wireless connectivity
- Develop schematics, multilayer PCB layouts, and manage BOMs using tools like Altium or KiCad
- Integrate and optimise wireless comms (e.g. LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, LTE-M, BLE, Wi-Fi)
- Ensure designs meet EMC, environmental, and industry compliance standards
- Collaborate closely with firmware, cloud, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration
- Mentor junior engineers and support the growth of engineering best practice
- Oversee product testing, validation, and support field trials
- Contribute to manufacturing test strategies and design-for-manufacture (DFM/DFT) improvements
Required Skills & Experience:
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, or related discipline
- Experience designing embedded electronics, ideally for field-deployed or ruggedised products
- Strong knowledge of low-power design principles and component selection
- Experience with microcontroller systems (
- Proficiency in analogue and digital circuit design, including power supply design
- Hands-on skills in prototyping, debugging, and lab testing
- Familiarity with wireless comms hardware and antenna integration
Desirable:
- Experience in sensor integration (e.g. flow, pressure, environmental sensors)
- Knowledge of IP-rated and environmentally sealed product design
- Experience working with certification bodies for CE, UKCA, or FCC
- Understanding of OTA firmware updates, secure boot, or remote diagnostics
- Previous exposure to water, utilities, or industrial IoT sectors
