Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Build, develop and apply your Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Engineering abilities, in this Senior EI&C Engineer role with Beca joining our New Zealand Steel, Glenbrook based team. In this role, you will have ample scope to make a difference through delivering capital projects, from scoping through to design, procurement, install/construction and commissioning. By working on site, you will see daily the impact from these projects, in how they add value to the operation of one of NZ’s largest and most complex industrial sites.
Requirements
In this role you will be a part of the New Zealand Steel Engineering Services team as well as having the depth of expertise and experience behind you from the Beca Industrial business. You will work on a variety of projects in the various plants around the site. The projects will vary in budget and complexity. You will be applying your EI&C expertise and experience across High Voltage (HV) requirements (experience in this area is essential), as well as working across low voltage power system design, distributing power, hazardous areas, automation (PLC and SCADA), instrumentation and machinery safety (having experience and exposure to one or more of these areas will be advantageous). Each day will present a new challenge, however key parts of this role include:
  • Execute capital projects in all stages, from design through to construction and commissioning
  • Participate in a mix of job delivery, project justification reports, work planning and financial management together with client relationship management
  • Provide client leadership & technical direction on a range of projects
  • Be a leader, mentor and coach to our Electrical team
  • Network, develop and grow relationships with clients and the Beca team within the industrial business
  • Tap into Beca’s technical specialist and multidisciplined workforce as well as apply your own expertise to develop the best solution for the client
Being based on site at NZ Steel in Glenbrook, South Auckland means you will be applying your relationship building abilities, working with site teams with deep knowledge and expertise on the operations across the site. You will be able to apply your abilities in connecting with, listening and understanding, collaborating and delivering projects in a way that adds value to the onsite teams, and in a way that works for them.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience and understand the detailed design process, as well as being able to understand how designs and solutions impact within the specific site requirements. Experience working on-site, building relationships with operations teams will be an advantage.
