- Develop new and existing products using established engineering principles.
- Understand product needs and translate these into system and subsystem requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and OEMs on component selection.
- Support/Lead design reviews in accordance with Aggreko design process.
- Create technical specifications, functional design specs and test procedures for electrical systems.
- Support manufacturing and procurement teams with prototype build and BoM completion.
- Support the improvement of HSE performance via product design and operational guidance, ensuring safety is given top priority.
- Provide support and mentorship to team members
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with proven experience in the power generation, energy or manufacturing industries. Extensive Electrical systems knowledge gained through demonstratable design experience.
- Strong knowledge of electrical controls (i.e. panel building and installation, generator controls) is essential. Knowledge of generator/alternator design, LV/MV switchgear, LV/MV transformers, battery storage, hybrid power technologies and LV/MV distribution would be preferred.
- High level of technical communication (verbal and written, necessary for collaboration across engineering, production and external teams.
- Proficient in CAD systems. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Eplan P8, Eplan ProPanel and Harness is desirable.
- Knowledge of global manufacturing systems and processes - PLM systems (Enovia/Windchill), MRP systems (M3), Engineering change control, international standards, component selection, and new product development processes.
- Experience of electrical circuit and equipment specification and ability to produce design calculations for all aspects up to (and including) 13.8kV.
- Ability to interpret customer requirements to produce part specifications, schematics and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and international regulatory compliance (i.e. IEC, IEE, BS EN, CSA, UL etc).
- Can work effectively autonomously or as a leading contributor within a small team.
- Highly computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft office.
- Flexibility to meet a fluctuating workload, often encountering unforeseen problems.
- Good problem solving and analytical skills.
