Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of large-scale project, with a value of £70m+, across various phases, from planning to delivery.
- Establish key date programmes and manage planning applications, ensuring smooth project progression.
- Oversee technical, legal, and planning processes for land acquisitions and development opportunities.
- Manage the consultant team for bid submissions and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Ensure the successful handover of projects to the delivery team post-planning consent.
- Represent the company professionally in meetings with external stakeholders, planning authorities, and potential clients.
- Collaborate with the pre-construction team to suggest value-adding ideas during bidding and planning phases.
- Oversee financial viability, cash flow projections, and ensure adequate funding is secured for the projects.
- Take responsibility for consultant fee budgets and project budgets for pre-planning phases.
- Manage the disposal of affordable housing units within Hill Residential schemes.
- Ensure all projects comply with Hill Quality Processes & Procedures.
- Support the ISO audits and ensure all technical and legal due diligence is handled with care.
- Ensure project designs reflect Hill Residential’s goals, ensuring quality outcomes in both market and affordable housing.
- Monitor financial appraisals, ensuring all risk and opportunity factors are accurately highlighted.
- Provide leadership and support to the Development Manager & Assistant Development Surveyor.
- Mentor and guide trainees, helping them progress in their careers and achieve their professional goals.
- Set clear briefs and deadlines for the pre-planning consultant team.
- Foster the development of Graduate and Development Surveyor Trainees, acting as a supervisor for their professional development.
- Secure new development opportunities in line with the business plan.
- Deliver timely, accurate reports to the senior management team.
- Manage project budgets, ensuring financial responsibility and adherence to targets.
- Drive the successful acquisition, planning, and delivery of projects, ensuring quality and profitability.
- Maintain a track record of improving financial returns on major projects.
- MRICS or equivalent qualification.
- Full membership of RPTI or RICS.
- Proven experience in large-scale development project management.
- Excellent commercial acumen, with a strong track record of improving financial returns.
- Experience in managing pre-planning and post-planning activities through to construction and delivery.
- Strong leadership skills with a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, multiple stakeholders, and cross-functional teams effectively.
