Senior Delivery Manager

Contracted until end of financial year

About the Role:

This Senior Delivery Manager role is required for effective delivery of 3 complex projects within CDIO at HMRC. They will have strong planning and communication skills to engage senior stakeholders and Delivery teams.

  • You will have experience across a range of products and services, throughout the entire lifecycle, and have greater responsibility and accountability as the main point of escalation. You will coach and mentor delivery managers and may task manage delivery managers/scrum masters.
  • You will use your knowledge and experience of Delivery Management including Agile methodologies such as Scrum to coach and mentor teams and colleagues.
  • You will encourage and facilitate continuous improvement and identify and remove blockers to delivery.
  • You will help ensure that CDIO applies the latest in innovation and ways of working and help spread those practices across the wider estate.
  • You are expected to understand processes and procedures of performance management. Within the role they will contribute to the organisation's IT/Information Systems plans, and business objectives.


Skills Required:

  • Expert in Agile & Lean Practices: coach and lead teams in Agile practices, act as a recognised expert and advocate for the approaches, continuously reflecting and challenging the team, create or tailor new ways of working, and constantly innovate.
  • Commercial Management: take responsibility for complex relationships with contracted suppliers , identify appropriate contractual frameworks and identify appropriate suppliers.
  • Communicating Between the Technical and Non-Technical: mediate between people and mend relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Life-Cycle Perspective : apply experience in multiple parts of the product life cycle, recognise the appropriate deliverables and the right people to meet them, know when it is right to move forward and stop.
  • Maintaining Delivery Momentum: optimise the delivery flow of teams, actively address complicated risks, issues and dependencies, identify innovative ways to unblock issues.
  • Making a Process Work: add value and can coach the organisation to inspect and adapt processes. Guide teams through the implementation of a new process.
  • Planning Level: Lead a continual planning process in a very complex environment.
  • Team Dynamics and Collaboration: Identify problems or issues in the team dynamic and rectify them. Identify issues through Agile ‘health checks’ with the team and help to stimulate the right responses.
