The Solutions Analytics Team provides actionable data and insights across the Ocado Smart Platform (OSP), with a focus on optimising operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and partner success. In the rapidly evolving domain of last-mile operations, we aim to enhance delivery efficiency, sustainability, and precision, ensuring our Partners achieve peak performance.
This team leads cross-functional analytics projects, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive innovation, deliver cost-saving solutions, and improve the customer experience.
About The Role
As a Last Mile Senior Analyst (A3), you will focus on creating insights that optimise the final stage of order fulfillment—where orders are delivered directly to customers. This role combines strategic vision, technical expertise to support Ocado Solutions' mission to redefine last-mile logistics in the eCommerce industry. Core areas of focus are; Network planning and strategy, resource planning and routing efficiency optimisation for our international and UK partners. Key Responsibilities include

About The Role

Strategic Direction
- Support the Lead Analyst with the strategic roadmap for last-mile analytics, aligning with Ocado Solutions' broader goals and industry trends.
- Act as a thought leader, ensuring data insights align with key performance indicators (KPIs) like delivery speed, cost efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, and customer satisfaction.
- Partner with Last Mile leadership to create data-driven strategies for enhancing route optimisation, network strategy, and customer experience.
- Develop models to forecast and drive optimisations in last mile efficiency, driver routes, and capacity utilisation.
- Use advanced statistical methods, machine learning, and data tools to uncover actionable insights from delivery and customer data.
- Track and analyse key metrics to understand performance trends, identify bottlenecks, and improve operational efficiency.
- Build dashboards, automated alerts, and self-serve data tools to empower stakeholders with real-time insights into last-mile performance.
- Collaborate with technology teams to integrate analytics solutions into operational workflows, ensuring insights translate into actionable improvements.
- Use advanced data visualisation platforms like Looker to deliver compelling narratives and self-service data.
- Support partner facing teams with insights and strategic guidance.
- Work with Ocado Technology’s software development teams to guide improvements and enhancements to the Ocado Smart Platform.
- There is opportunity to work directly with our international partners supporting operators and strategy planners across the globe.
- Champion best practices in data analysis, mentoring team members through coaching, feedback, and career development plans.
Essential skills and experience:
- Technical proficiency with SQL, BigQuery, and data-oriented programming languages like Python or R.
- Familiarity with tools like Looker, Tableau, and Data Studio for creating data visualisations and dashboards.
- Strong analytical and numerical expertise, with a proven ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into actionable business strategies.
- Strong focus on delivering insights and driving the implementation of recommendations based on analytics, coupled with a passion for working with stakeholders to achieve results.
- Expertise in last-mile logistics, home delivery, network strategy or similar fields within the eCommerce or retail industry.
- Some experience with cutting-edge analytics techniques such as machine learning, route optimisation algorithms, or AI-driven predictive models.
- Advanced experience in last-mile logistics, including knowledge of supply chain optimisation and delivery driver networks.
- Experience in Network Planning and strategy, including holistic operational cost-to-serve modelling.
- Deep understanding of eCommerce customer behavior and operational metrics like on-time delivery rates and drop densities.
- Experience applying sustainability metrics and optimising for eco-friendly delivery solutions.
- Strong track record of working with partners to deploy and operationalise data solutions at scale.
