Working Conditions: Hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days WFH

Position: Permanent

Elysia is a Battery Intelligence company redefining how batteries are understood, optimised, and deployed. Blending electrochemistry, software, and data science, they operate across the entire battery value chain, automotive, BESS, and heavy-duty platforms, backed by Fortescue’s £40B+ sustainability ecosystem.

They’re now looking for a Cloud Application Engineer to join their growing technical delivery team. This is a 90% technical, 10% customer-facing role where you’ll be building and customising data pipelines, integrating battery analytics into customer-specific frameworks, and collaborating with both the product and cloud development teams.

Role Purpose:

You will act as the primary technical contact on customer-facing projects to translate requirements and provide technical support under the joint supervision of the technical specialist and core cloud development team. You will be building automated customer pipelines for battery analytics by integrating and customising the existing codebase into customer-specific orchestration frameworks, taking requirements from the product development team and/or existing customers. The aim is to produce business-relevant, actionable battery insights through an understanding of both battery electrochemistry and systems integration.

You will collaborate with the broader cloud team in the development of the Battery Intelligence Cloud Platform. The purpose of the team is to accelerate electrification globally by maximising, protecting, and assuring the performance, safety, and reliability of the battery through its lifecycle through advanced software and battery analytics.

You will act in a technical capacity for cloud-hosted battery analytics. You will have a position in the application of battery diagnostic and prognostic algorithms, which will be embedded in data pipelines communicating battery performance, safety and lifetime insights to clients.

Key skills required:

  • Experience handling/interfacing with customers.
  • Strong data science background (statistical modelling, machine learning, or applied analytics).
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, modelling, and cloud applications.
  • Automotive domain knowledge or experience (e.g. vehicle systems, electrification, battery applications).
  • Broader exposure to areas such as electrochemistry, power systems, energy storage, physics, chemistry, or chemical engineering is beneficial but not essential.

Job Responsibilities:

The employee will be delivery-focused with a pragmatic, product-oriented approach to development.

Integration of battery analytics:

  • Build orchestration frameworks of battery algorithms to evaluate the performance, lifetime and safety of batteries in live operating environments
  • Enhancing and adapting existing algorithms to optimise performance for specific customers
  • Understand the scalability and robustness of algorithms using both data-driven and physics-informed approaches, to integrate correct elements to provide optimal solutions for clients

Customer technical engagement:

  • Understand customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Ensure the validity of outputs in an automated environment and support customers in interpreting the results of Elysia’s products
  • Understand Elysia’s evolving position in target markets and value proposition to build algorithms generalisable across different use cases

Why this opportunity:

  • Elysia offers the best of both worlds because you get to enjoy the best parts of a start-up but the with stability of a blue-chip giant.
  • Elysia has over 60,000+ real-world battery data from commercial/motorsport vehicles that they use to support development.
  • Elysia wants to be the go-to Battery Intelligence partner!
  • Recently signed a partnership with a major European OEM to provide Battery Intelligence for future vehicles. (Already saved this OEM a £500 million recall from Elysia's technology)
  • Full life cycle project exposure working on multiple projects
  • Technical empowerment opportunities & opportunities to progress your career by becoming a Subject matter expert or progressing into management
  • Exposure to next-generation technology
