The Opportunity

As a Senior Category Manager, you’ll lead the strategic procurement of one of our largest spend portfolios – Raw Materials, with full accountability for an annual spend in excess of £250m. Based at our head office in Bardon Hill, Leicestershire on a hybrid working pattern, you’ll develop and deliver category strategies that drive cost savings, identify alternative options and support long-term sustainable sourcing. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business in a hands-on and highly visible role, ensuring procurement activity aligns to organisational objectives and delivers real value.


What you’ll be doing:

Leading end-to-end sourcing activity for Raw Materials, including tendering, negotiation and contract implementation.

Developing and executing category strategies based on spend analysis, market trends and supplier capability.

Identifying and delivering strategic cost savings and exploring alternative sourcing opportunities.

Managing supplier performance and relationships, ensuring KPIs and contractual obligations are met.

Partnering with internal stakeholders to align procurement activity with operational requirements and long-term business goals.

Conducting regular risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies.

Providing category expertise to support budgeting, cost control and continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintaining accurate procurement records and driving compliance with procurement processes and policies.


Who you are

You’re a hands-on, commercially minded procurement professional who thrives in a complex and fast-moving environment. You build strong relationships, communicate with impact and are confident developing and implementing strategies that deliver results.

Proven experience in category management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Knowledge of raw materials, bitumen, fuels or similar commodities.

Strong strategic thinking and cost-saving mindset, with experience driving alternative sourcing options.

Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including at senior level.

Confident negotiating contracts and managing supplier performance.

Comfortable working across multiple priorities and projects with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
