We are looking for a Senior BI Analyst to join our Business Reporting team here at Covéa Insurance.

The Business Reporting team helps our colleagues make informed decisions, by providing reliable, accurate and timely MI, Analytics & Insights that meets their needs and helps drive value using data.

The purpose of the team is to enable the ability to make proactive, value-driven, product decisions through the use of easily accessible data.

This role is based onsite at our Halifax office. We find that working together in the office increases collaboration and engagement and also supports your development too!

What will I be doing?

  • Maintaining an understanding of Business Intelligence Solutions across Covéa by building strong relationships with business stakeholders & functions across Claims, Personal & Commercial Lines, and Distribution
  • Defining and improving how business users work with Power BI and use self-serve reporting solutions and dashboards, in order to drive efficiency and meet requirements
  • Acting as the technical expert in all things Power BI, providing expert knowledge on visualisations within Power BI across Covéa’s Analyst community & mentoring colleagues in areas of expertise
  • Working with the Data Governance Team, define and document data quality, data flows & data lineage processes to help with transparency and our vision of a democratised data self-serve culture
  • Contributing to the Data Function and Community, mentoring colleagues in areas of expertise.
  • Overseeing Power BI infrastructure and set-up, enabling high performance business reporting/tooling & managing reports through distribution of apps and monitoring usage/data refreshes
  • Acting as a key point of contact between relevant teams, collaborating on technical solutions & model development and continuously improving the quality of our services through best practice and training
  • Documenting & applying the route to live processes, with clear governance and change approval processes
  • Working with the Business Reporting Manager to help find effective ways for Product backlog management and defining the priority of delivery for the key data products

You should apply if you have…

  • Development experience within a BI or data warehousing environment, with strong knowledge of BI solution architecture, Power BI Service and application of AD groups & setup
  • Proficiency with a variety of Business Intelligence tools, including Power BI, Business Objects, QlikView, & SSRS
  • Passion about data and insights, with an understanding of dimensional data modelling concepts & ability to tell simple story with the use of good visualisations from complex data
  • Expertise in defining, building and implementing high quality dashboards & reports to help our customers visualise & understand their data
  • Experience of working in an Agile development environment and using a variety of querying languages to obtain data such as SQL & DAX
  • Good understanding of full end to end software development lifecycle and software testing methodologies
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with internal & external parties
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, working towards deadlines with adaptability & resourcefulness
  • Naturally inquisitive with a data driven approach, proactively improving the delivered quality of service
  • Appreciation for your colleagues, listening to them, training them & offering constructive views and opinions on their work where required
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent industry experience
