The Transaction Execution Group Senior Associate (TEG) is responsible for fixed income deal execution services across all debt capital markets industry groups (corporates, financial institutions and sovereigns) in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

You will be part of a dynamic, diverse and highly flexible team, and will regularly participate in client activities when leading transaction execution and will have exposure to Debt Financing and Corporate & Investment Banking partners, as well as internal and external Legal, Compliance, and the Commitment Committee.

The Senior Associate will organise and perform due diligence, coordinate all necessary internal approvals, drive transactions to execution and settlement, as well as advise on comfort and disclosure issues in marketing materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a TEG senior associate, you will assist in all aspects of executing fixed income transactions and will work closely with internal and external partners, and clients to ensure high quality seamless deal execution. Key tasks will include:
  • Support Senior TEG Bankers and Debt Financing partners by managing the day to day work processes of the deal
  • Understand and help lead transactions within the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa, developing relationships and regularly being one of the main points of contact with the client during execution
  • Assist in leading weekly update documentation calls on transactions where Citi is the documentation bank
  • Organisation of and participation in the due diligence process including drafting due diligence questionnaires and actively involved in the decision making with regards to disclosure and overall execution
  • Assist on all aspect of the settlement of a fixed income transaction
  • Working with external and internal counsel to assist in the review and preparation of various transaction-related documentation materials considering business and risk factors, and identifying risks and mitigants
  • Manage internal processes and coordinate the various internal approvals.
  • Supporting and providing TEG, Debt Financing and Banking juniors (among other stakeholders) with regular training and development
  • Management responsibility by acting as the TEG team staffer
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
  • Other ad hoc activities essential for seamless deal execution

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Strong knowledge in Financial and Credit analysis
  • Previous relevant banking or legal work experience required
  • Specific experience in bonds issuances and internal processes would be preferred

  • Strong writing, analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Energetic, self-motivated and highly adaptable
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous workstreams
  • Clear headed under pressure and professional, with the self-confidence to work with deal team members and clients of different seniority
  • Confident client interaction and management skills
  • Good judgement, maturity, and poise to enable interaction at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate confidence and professionalism with clients and during client meetings


Candidates applying for this role must be aware that it is a Certified Role, subject to the FCA and PRA Certification Regime.

The Certification Regime is one element of the Individual Accountability Regime which came into effect on 7 March 2016.
