In this role you will be a part of the pricing team reporting into Safia Jendoubi (Specialist Actuary, International Motor), and will work closely with both actuarial colleagues in the motor team as well as underwriters in London and Europe.
We are seeking a high calibre, proactive, enthusiastic Senior Actuarial Analyst with relevant experience to ensure continued profitable growth and developing talent to deliver the best for AXA XL’s customers.
The successful candidate will be highly driven, interested in working with complex datasets and preferably have a proven track record in supporting pricing models that can enhance AXA XL’s technical pricing capabilities. The candidate can communicate Pricing analysis to Underwriters and the Business.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Supporting Underwriting teams with
- Case pricing
- Quarterly business reviews
- Dashboards and MI, particularly within SQL, Python/R, Power BI, Excel (VBA)
- Annual business planning
- Support strategic initiatives to improve the loss ratio.
- Contribute the building and development of tools and dashboards, particularly within Power BI and/or Excel.
- Ad-hoc projects to improve the quality of data that is used in pricing analysis.
- Support rating model updates, calibration and enhancements.
- Training and reviewing of work for more junior members of the pricing team.
- Maintaining and streamlining existing pricing tasks.
- Presentation of results to stakeholders.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- Qualification level – Studying towards or nearly qualified actuary.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in non-life insurance pricing or analytics, knowledge of UK and European motor insurance is necessary, experienced on the large fleets is a plus. Will consider candidates from personal and commercial insurance lines with similar experience.
- Experience in using Python/R, SQL, Qlikview or other programming languages in a commercial environment preferred along with experience in developing in different applications.
- Active interest to use data visualisation tools to convey results or information without distorting facts.
- Experience working with Underwriting teams on pricing tool development, business reporting, analytical projects and case pricing is preferred but not necessary.
- Details oriented.
- Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure as well as delivering to deadlines.
- Ability to work in a matrix environment and be a part of a European team.
- Ability to manage workloads across different projects effectively
- Effective verbal communications skills to gain buy-in to communicate clearly and concisely with internal clients.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- A collaborative work ethic.
