Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Dorchester

Salary: £12.82 per hour

Start Date: November 2024/Immediate

Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

About The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse needs. You will provide one-on-one or small group support, assist the class teacher in creating and implementing individual education plans (IEPs), and support students in their academic, social, and emotional development. Your role will also involve helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment, collaborating with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students, and monitoring and recording students’ progress.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans for students with SEN to tailor educational activities and resources to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN to help students understand and complete their work, providing additional explanations and assistance as needed.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to student development.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and included.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to engage and motivate students to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs is desirable.
