Scientist (Oligonucleotides)

Key Responsibilities:

• Synthesis and purification of oligonucleotides.
• Preparation of small molecule starting materials as required.
• Operation and maintenance of Oligonucleotide synthesisers, purification equipment, including flash Chromatography, HPLC, PAGE and LC-MS. General laboratory equipment and materials including evaporators.
• Ensure accurate and up to date record keeping.
• Adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and safe operating procedures within a lab environment.
• Adherence to the Company policies and procedures.
• Manage inventory and ensuring sufficient stock levels for operations.
• Demonstrate continuous professional development, keeping abreast of new methodologies and techniques.
• General lab duties, including washing glassware, maintaining a neat and clean laboratory, changing gas cylinders, removal of waste (including chemical solvents).
• Provide entry level training to Associate Scientists and Lab Technicians.

Skills/Experience:

• Degree in Chemistry or related discipline.
• Experience working in a high through-put chemistry laboratory.
• Experience in nucleic acid chemistry would be highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience with HPLC, Mass Spectrometry and/or other analytical techniques. Experience working with Waters LCM systems would be highly desirable.
• Familiarity with ISO or other quality systems along with HSE requirements and safe operating procedures
• The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-changing environment, detail orientated along with strong communication skills.

Salary up to £40,000 (Plus benefits) commensurate with experience
