Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the role of Sales Director is part of the senior leadership team of the business. You will be responsible for developing and driving commercial best practice, through effective performance management, coaching, training and leadership. The position will lead sales, marketing and estimating, with a direct team of five Sales Managers, and a total team of c. 40.

You will be joining a highly dynamic leadership team driving transformational change across the business. In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate sound judgment and make effective decisions in situations of ambiguity and when faced with incomplete or evolving information.

Using your experience as a seasoned sales leader, within a high performing manufacturing business, you will apply your experience through a supportive and positive leadership style to drive change, modernise the sales and commercial function guiding the business through a phase of significant growth and expansion.

Develop or demonstrate from previous experience a strong understanding of the market and competitive landscape, and proactively adapt the business's sales strategy to align with evolving industry trends and customer needs.

You will provide hands-on leadership and guidance, being visible to your team, and peers, of this fast-paced and customer-led business, with ever changing product volumes and routings and ensure that both you and your team remain adaptable and capable of swiftly adjusting plans and priorities.

Person

You will be a highly experienced sales leader, with a proven track record of leading a sales team to successfully grow sales and profitability, within a fasteners or related precision engineered products environment, such as bearings, seals, pipe, valves, pumps, and so on.

Preferably degree-educated, you will have a coaching and mentoring leadership style, and will be someone that leads from the front – proactively building relationships with customers, as well as with your internal peers.

Used to a fast-paced culture, and a demanding customer base – typically operating in highly regulated markets, such as oil & gas, nuclear, aerospace, or power generation, that require product traceability – you will be familiar with the drum beat of a precision manufacturer with complex planning, multi-stage production, varying volumes, and sub-contracting partners.

You will be comfortable in a hands-on role, and being visible with your team, with strong communication skills. A true ‘people person’, you will enjoy developing your team, and believe in the importance of attracting the next generation of talent into a business such as LoneStar.
