DB Cargo is the UK’s first choice rail freight company. We are currently recruiting for a Safety Assurance Manager to join our West London region. You will have the variety of working with large blue chip clients and supporting local businesses with their logistics needs.

You will play an essential part in supporting the transportation of the likes of coal, biomass, building materials, intermodal units, and recyclable products.

We have a large contract supporting the steel industry moving raw materials, fuel and finished good through the county and for international export.

As part of the wider DB Cargo UK remit, we provide freight, infrastructure and passenger charter trains throughout the UK and the freight services to and from mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel. Our train crews are transporting everything from cereals to coal, barbecues to biomass, and petroleum to steel.

The Responsibilities For This Role

Assessing Drivers for the Hub/s in your area

Assessing Mobile Operatives for the yards and sidings in your area

Assessing Operations supervisors for the yards and sidings in your area

Responsible for the final assessment with the trainee drivers

Various yards and sidings including hubs/depots in your area

Compliance of all locations in your area

Investigation of all incidents that your staff are involved with

Liaising with union reps/safety reps

Liaising with customers and stakeholders in your area and beyond

Resolving hazards and other reportable items on a daily basis

Maintaining your own competence

To be eligible for this position you will require

Hold a valid European train driving licence

A full UK driving license and have the ability to travel within West London & the Surrounding area

To have a good understanding of freight rail

To be a confident and effective communicator as this role will involve communication with stakeholders at all levels. They will be a competent day to day user of IT systems.

Previous Management Experience (Desirable But Not Essential)

Previous experience as a shunter (Desirable)
