The Dyson Cancer Centre is a specially designed and state of the art building which provides cancer services to both oncology and haematology patients.
We are looking for a driven, creative individual with excellent organisational skills who could shape this educational role within our Day Unit.
The role of Clinical Practice Education Facilitator will support the development of both new and existing members of the team in their competence and knowledge within this advancing field of nursing.
You will work alongside Senior Staff to create, develop and maintain an effective learning environment ensuring clinical practice is up to date within oncology. The education of staff within the unit will focus initially on Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy competencies within the UKONS Passport, but also involve the on-going education and updating of any changes within the speciality.
To adopt a lead role in staff local induction and delivery of programmes of education and professional development for nursing staff in Medlock Unit. To support building a learning culture within the department.
As a designated responsibility to manage the induction process for staff newly appointed to Medlock Unit. This includes both those experienced and those new to the area, across a range of different roles.
Facilitate in annual SACT update training staff in collaboration with SACT CNS team.
Deliver ad hoc training in conjunction with SACT CNS for new treatments within department. To take the lead on regular in-house teaching sessions.
To ensure staff have undertaken relevant training and are fully informed and competent in the use of all equipment within the clinical area.
To assure that staff undertaking training education and development are supported in working to meeting set standards of performance.
To support staff in their personal professional development and direct towards relevant formal courses pertaining to speciality.
To ensure the appropriate allocation of supervisors / mentors for induction period in consultation with senior sisters.
To provide continuing support to newly appointed members of staff and their supervisor / mentor. To ensure any problems are promptly and effectively resolved.
