Job Overview
Junior Physiotherapist Southmead Hospital, Bristol
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our physiotherapy service as a band 5 Rotational Physiotherapist . Based at Southmead Hospital you will be responsible for an acute physiotherapy case-load in a busy and dynamic environment working in experienced and supportive teams.
Our large rotational scheme (6 monthly rotations) includes areas such as complex care, neuroscience, ICU, Orthopaedics, respiratory medicine, vascular and surgery, burns and plastics and MSK out-patients.
You will have a mentor to support you during your rotations and have access to competency based training and CPD .

Main duties of the job
THE ROLE: your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a high standard of physiotherapy service in each of the acute rotational clinical areas.
- Working effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, physiotherapy colleagues and outside agencies to provide information about physiotherapy treatment and contributing to patient Flow.
- Communicate effectively with patients and carers to progress treatment programmes, provide reassurance and facilitate discharge.
- A wide range of acute placements at undergraduate level
- Post-Graduate experience
- Respiratory experience
- Organising and prioritising own workload and delegating responsibilities as appropriate
- Working in multi-disciplinary teams
- The successful applicant will be required to participate in weekend working.

- To be an autonomous Physiotherapy Practitioner providing a high standard of service in each of rotational clinical areas e.g., Trauma and Elective Orthopaedic inpatients, ITU, surgery, stroke, respiratory medicine, general medical, elderly care and neurosciences some musculoskeletal outpatients. Access to advice/support from a senior physiotherapist is available at all times.
- To participate in the rotational scheme, which involves working across a range of ward settings and outpatient departments.
- To provide advice and information to Health Care Professionals, patients and carers.

- HCPC
- Post-graduate Courses
- Clinical Educators course
- Member of CSP

- Experience of a variety of rotations
- Experience of working as a member of the MDT
- Experience of working in an NHS environment
- Experience of participating in audit and evidence based practice
- Research experience
- Experience of managing limited resources and high workloads
- Evidence of actively participating in IST and MDT groups
