Overview

Our client is a purpose-driven organisation working to create fair, sustainable, and community-led approaches to land use. Their research supports collective learning and action on land justice, promoting systems that allow people, communities, and the environment to thrive. This position offers the opportunity to lead meaningful, participatory research that influences both local and systemic change within the land, food, and farming sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of research projects — from scoping and design through delivery, evaluation, and dissemination.
  • Manage and deliver funded research projects in collaboration with a range of partners, including academic institutions, community groups, NGOs, and local authorities.
  • Develop participatory and practical research approaches aligned with the land justice movement.
  • Coordinate and reflect on learning across multiple organisational workstreams to inform future research priorities.
  • Generate ideas for new research opportunities and contribute to funding proposals.
  • Produce accessible outputs (reports, articles, podcasts, events, etc.) that communicate findings and influence practice and policy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing research projects, ideally within the fields of land use, environment, or community development.
  • Strong background in participatory and collaborative research methods.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and funders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present research findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • A strong commitment to environmental and social justice, with an understanding of systemic change approaches.

Benefits

  • Salary: £32,500 (based on a four-day working week).
  • Flexible, remote working arrangement within the UK.
  • Opportunity to work on impactful projects shaping fairer and more sustainable land systems.
  • Inclusive and supportive work culture committed to diversity and equity.
