We are looking for a Reporter to join Citywire’s highly motivated and fast-paced editorial team, working primarily on our Investment Trust Insider channel.

The investment trust sector is distinctive to the UK, offering a window into everything from the roll-out of renewable energy infrastructure to the strategies of top hedge fund managers, as well as key trends that move financial markets, making this an especially interesting area to cover. This role provides the opportunity to break news, interview major figures, and deliver insightful analysis on the UK’s investment companies sector.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Contribute to our daily news service by uncovering original and engaging angles on market announcements and highlighting their significance for our readers, a mix of retail and professional investors.
  • Seek out original stories on the London-listed investment companies sector, the broader asset management industry, and topics of interest to private investors.
  • Conduct interviews with fund managers and other key figures.
  • Develop your analytical skills to provide real insights on our coverage, including the use of data.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong Communication Skills: You can build rapport with contacts, ask the right questions, and explain complex topics clearly and effectively.
  • Ambition & Curiosity: A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn about the financial sector. While prior knowledge of investments or finance is preferred, it is not essential, as training will be provided. However, an interest in investing will be beneficial.
  • Self-Starter: You can work independently, chase news leads, and break important stories that matter to our audience, while thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in Video and Podcasts: While experience may be required to build up to this, presenting video events and podcasts could become a significant part of the role over time.
