Exciting Opportunity for Registered Mental Health Nurses!

Are you ready to make a real difference in a dynamic and supportive environment? We’re currently seeking Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMNs) to join our dedicated clinical teams at Frimley Park Hospital and Wexham Park Hospital.

In this rewarding role, you'll provide expert mental health support to patients across various clinical areas. You'll be instrumental in delivering high-quality care, supporting colleagues through training and development, and promoting parity between mental and physical health within the general hospital setting.

As a Valued Member Of The Team, You'll

Offer specialist advice and support to patients experiencing acute mental health challenges.

Contribute to staff development through guidance and training.

Champion mental health awareness and well-being across the Trust.

What We’re Looking For

A qualified RMN with strong clinical and risk assessment skills.

In-depth knowledge of mental health conditions and psychosocial interventions.

A solid understanding of legal frameworks related to acute mental health care.

Someone who is proactive, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary setting.

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver high-quality, effective, and individualised nursing care that is compassionate, caring, and aligned with evidence-based professional practice.
  • To assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans without supervision.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for patients.
  • Collaborating across the multi-disciplinary team to ensure consistent and personalised care.
  • Contributing to the daily activities and treatment programmes.
  • To undertake mental health risk assessments and reduce vulnerable patients coming to harm.
  • To provide clinical areas with mental health advice, support, and expertise.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Leadership course/module or qualification
  • Management course or qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience working as an RMN post registration, demonstrating effective risk assessment and risk management experience
  • Have an excellent understanding and experience in working with patients who have experienced psychological trauma, demonstrating trauma-informed care
  • Experience in the delivery of clinical interventions
  • Experience working with patients who may be confused or present with challenging behaviour

Desirable criteria

  • Experience working in Adult’s and Children’s mental health inpatient settings

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, DOLS and other legislation applicable to the practice area
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the post-graduate level of evidence-based practice in caring for patients in the designated field, including specialist knowledge of co-morbidity (physical and mental health) about acute and chronic conditions
  • Demonstrates excellent written and presentation skills
  • Can demonstrate good understanding of clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice
  • Able to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations

Desirable criteria

  • Has participated in undertaking research and audit
