About The Role
Balfour Beatty Rail is looking to make a critical leadership hire and appoint a Regional Director to manage a significant regional business.
As Regional Director, you will ensure delivery of projects and frameworks to meet or exceed business targets and expectations. You will manage customer relationships through winning to delivery; retain the customer following the achievement of expectations and expand the portfolio in line with Rail and Regional strategic plans.
This role will be based in the South West / M4 Corridor, however we welcome flexible working.

This is a strategic leadership position for an individual passionate and focused on running a regional business in line with the overall Rail Strategy.

What you'll be doing
As a Regional Director, you will have the following accountabilities:
Budget, Financial Target And Risk Management
- Accountable for the development of an accurate Regional budget based on work winning pipeline, forming part of the overall Rail Systems budget.
- Deliver financial performance on all projects under your regional management
- Ensure lean and efficient operating of your business region.
- Quantify all project risk to ensure that accurate information is provided to Delivery Unit, Regional and business stream management and to enable management of any risk within agreed and acceptable boundaries.
- Work Winning and budget forecasting for your Region working with the Delivery Unit Operations Directors and Head of Commercial/Finance.
- Manage the performance and success of customer relationships to ensure customer expectations are managed and achieved in order to retain customers.
- Identify opportunities to expand the regional portfolio.
- Pursue diversity and inclusion and role model the principles of the ‘Right to Respect’.
- Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm and Sustainability equally.
- Develop an effective safety leadership culture.
- Lead a group of contracts managers/project managers/project directors to deliver projects safely and to time, cost, quality and sustainability targets, meeting customer needs and expectation.
- Lead, develop and coach individuals to build high performing teams and create a pipeline of talent.
- Support the Rail Strategy through the region, demonstrating improved business performance.
This is a strategic leadership position for an individual passionate and focused on running a regional business in line with the overall Rail Strategy.
The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following Qualities/experience
- The ability to make strong and effective decisions in a complex changing market and environment.
- Effective leadership skills with a desire to track records of achievement
- Strong understanding of the standard forms of contracts
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications
- Business and customer awareness
- Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to
- Focus on commercial management of contracts and budgets
- Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
- Be flexible and agile to change as the role develops
- Understand the need to present data/reports etc. in a manner that is simple and easy/effective for our people to interpret and utilise
- Ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team
