QA Software Tester

 

Who are we looking for?

 

We are looking for an experienced unit and integration tester to ensure software quality by testing individual components (unit testing) and the interactions between different components (integration testing), with experience in manual and automation. They have hands on experience of designing, executing, and maintaining test plans, identifying and logging defects, and collaborate with developers to improve software quality.

 

You need to be comfortable in a technical environment, but at the same time know how to turn technical jargon into something end-user friendly.  We are at the beginning of our ITIL journey, so we have an element of plate spinning and juggling and need to help move the support team to where it needs to be to support a worldwide operation professionalising their ITSM.

 

Who are we?

 

Here at I-Fulfilment we have an in-house team of developers who have created our very own e-commerce, warehouse management & a ‘whole lot more feature rich’ system. We currently support the business in our Christchurch and Bournemouth Airport sites, and they in turn support 150+ e-commerce clients in the UK, Europe and the USA.  

We are highly successful in our fulfilment business, and we are continually developing with new technologies to provide solutions, that drive efficiencies; to support this, we need to build a robust team to underpin the success of the next phase of our growth.

The person we are looking for is themselves thinking about where to go next in the Application Development & Support world. You should consider yourself an enthusiastic team player, personable, great customer service skills and having a good technical ability, with excellent problem-solving skills.  You will not mind working as part of a team but also feel happy to work independently.

 

What tasks will you be accountable for doing?

 

·       Quality Assurance:

They are responsible for ensuring the software is stable, reliable, and user-friendly before it reaches the end-user. 

·       Test Design and Execution:

Testers design and execute various tests, including manual and automated tests, to identify potential issues. 

·       Bug Reporting and Tracking:

They meticulously document any defects found during testing and report them to the development team for resolution. 

·       Collaboration:

Testers work closely with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the software meets the project requirements and resolves identified issues. 

·       Documentation:

They create and maintain documentation, including test plans, test cases, and defect reports, to track the testing process and results. 

·       Performance and Usability:

Testers may also assess the performance and usability of the software to ensure it functions efficiently and provides a positive user experience. 

 

What responsibilities will you be responsible for doing?

 

·       Designing and executing test plans:

Unit and integration test plans are created to verify the functionality of individual modules and their interactions.

·       Identifying and logging defects:

Software testers meticulously document any issues or bugs found during testing.

·       Collaborating with developers:

Regular communication with developers is crucial for understanding requirements, resolving issues, and improving code quality.

·       Maintaining and updating test cases:

Test cases are kept up-to-date to ensure they accurately reflect the latest software changes.

·       Automating testing tasks:

Automating repetitive testing tasks can significantly improve efficiency and test coverage.

·       Participating in code reviews:

Reviewing code helps ensure that testing is performed correctly and effectively, and that the code meets quality standards.

·       Contributing to CI/CD:

Unit and integration tests are often integrated into continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing and improve the development process

 

If you have experience of any of the below, it’ll help you stand out to us.

 

·       SQL or MySQL any PHP

·       Experience with Jira Service Desk or equivalent ticketing system.

·       Strong understanding of software testing methodologies:

Understanding different types of testing (unit, integration, system) and their purposes is crucial. 

·       Experience with various testing tools and frameworks:

Familiarity with testing tools like Selenium, JUnit, or TestNG is helpful. 

·       Knowledge of coding principles:

A basic understanding of coding principles can help in creating and executing test cases. 

·       Strong communication and collaboration skills:

Software testers need to communicate effectively with developers and other stakeholders. 

·       Problem-solving skills:

The ability to identify and resolve issues is essential for software testers.


·       Attention to detail:

Software testers need to be meticulous and pay close attention to detail when identifying defects
