Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Public Health Project Coordinator Intern based at Ailsa Hospital, Afton House on a 3-month, fixed-term contract.

What You Will Do

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who is committed to improving population health and reducing health inequalities to join our team. This post is a short-term internship opportunity to provide the successful graduate(s) with appropriate experience of the workplace and equip them to apply for longer-term or substantive posts.

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join the Public Health Department. You will work with the Public Health and contribute to Public Health objectives through delivery of effective project and data support, producing and responding to performance management information and working flexibly across the department.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Undertake Various Project Duties, Including

  • Maintenance, collation and production of routine statistics and project plans, identifying any areas of slippage, providing solutions and taking necessary action.
  • Communicating data to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Contributing to group meetings on aspects of project management.
  • Comprehensively and effectively manage multiple projects using project management techniques and tools in conjunction with advanced time management and organisational skills.
  • Liaising and communicating as necessary relevant information to stakeholders within and out with NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
  • Prepare draft correspondence, professional reports and other documents, accurately, efficiently and within agreed timescales. Assist in the production of graphs and tables.
  • Influence the decision making process through the production and submission of relevant formal documentation

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
  • Data management skills
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Computer literate with detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Flexibility and adaptability

Desirable criteria

  • Data management experience

Hours

37 hours per week.

The post will be based at Ailsa Hospital, Ayr, but may require travel to Ayrshire Central or Crosshouse Hospital.
