Join us and turn your skills into meaningful change.About the RoleYou will provide expert legal advice and support across a wide range of property-related matters within the housing association sector. This includes conveyancing, property security charging, disrepair claims, compliance and general legal matters. You will manage a varied caseload, ensure legal compliance, and support strategic property transactions - helping Selwood Housing operate effectively, safely, and in line with best practice.What you'll do:* Advise on and manage legal aspects of property charging for funding and refinancing purposes.* Advise on land law matters such as easements, covenants, land registration, and property transactions.* Handle some property sales, disposals, and leasehold transactions.* Draft, negotiate, and review contracts, transfers, leases, and licences.* Manage and defend disrepair claims brought against the association.* Work closely with housing management and maintenance teams to investigate and resolve claims.* Ensure legal compliance with housing, property, and regulatory law including GDPR, consumer credit, and environmental regulations.* Provide legal advice to internal teams including development, housing management, and finance.What we're looking for:We're looking for someone who shares our values:Customer driven - Your legal expertise will help us protect the organisation, so we can continue providing safe, secure homes for our customers.Accountability - You'll take ownership of your caseload, make confident evidence-based decisions, and safeguard the organisation's interest whilst enabling positive outcome for our customers.Develop and learn - We'll support you to continually grow your expertise - building the skills and knowledge that strengthen Selwood Housing's ability to respond to legal and property challenges.Champion communication - You'll work closely with colleagues, teams, and stakeholders, ensuring clear, collaborative communication that protects the wider organisation and supports our wider mission.You'll bring:* A minimum of 3 years' experience of housing law, property transactions and litigation.* Qualified solicitor status with valid UK practising certificate.* Demonstratable strong knowledge of property law.* Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.* Membership of relevant professional bodies, such as Housing Law Practitioners Association (HLPA).* A practical, solution-focused mindset that balances legal risk with operational needs.* Proven experience supervising junior legal staff or caseworkers, including mentoring and performance management.For further information on the role, please review the job description attached to the advert.Please note: Successful candidate will be required to undertake a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
