Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and these roles are no exception. We will however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices across Scotland (Inverness/Aberdeen/Perth). 

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing. 

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available. 

The role

An excellent opportunity exists for a Project Manager to join the SSEN Transmission Onshore Delivery team, focusing on the Beauly to Peterhead Programme. The role involves management of construction projects associated with electricity transmission infrastructure, with capital values varying from £20 million to over £500 million. You will:  

  • Lead and inspire the SSE team and manage multiple external contractors, to ensure project excellence is achieved and we deliver on our promises. 
  • Manage the development and execution of large capital projects, ensure the safe delivery to programme, cost and the necessary quality. 
  • Ensure the project adheres to our Safety Management Systems, best practices and the SSE Large Capital Projects (LCP) Governance processes. 
  • Foster a culture of safety and collaboration, aligning with the SSE Safety Culture and our core leadership values, creating a space where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute. 

You have: 

  • A strong project management, engineering or construction background and understanding of applicable health and safety regulations including CDM regulations 
  • Excellent communication and empathetic leadership skills, with a proven track record in supporting teams and guiding them through the successful delivery of large projects. 
  • Contractual management experience (NEC3 experience is preferable), with the ability to forecast and control costs as well as develop and manage integrated project programmes. 
  • Experience with access works, overhead line, or high voltage underground cable projects is preferred, but major construction management experience in other industries, with a willingness to learn quickly, is also valued.  

A valid driving licence and a willingness to travel to site 2-3 days a week during the construction phase, appreciating the importance of face-to-face connections when needed.
