The Role
We are undergoing an exciting time in our evolution and now seek a Fixed Term Project Engineer to deliver technical expertise to Xperience’s customers; deploying solutions and undertaking project related tasks; all whilst delivering exceptional customer service. Solutions can be delivered onsite, remote or a combination of both. The work is diverse and challenging; no two days are the same.
The Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in the delivery of projects and ad-hoc work elements for our customer base. The technologies used are wide ranging, from Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Windows Server, Azure Virtual Desktop and Intune all the way through to networking solutions from HPe/Aruba, Cisco and Sophos. With training and development in role, the engineer role will develop to understand their usage, configuration, and deployment tasks.
As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with Consultancy, Project Management and the Solutions Architect to deliver work packages but also advance technical knowledge and understanding, ultimately being able to take on more advanced work elements over time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete work packages that are provided by the projects team
- Attend sites to complete deployment related activities; this may include device builds/rollouts, physical networking equipment installation or
- Be onsite for early life support activities, assisting customers with the new systems that Xperience implement
- Meet weekly with an assigned mentor to review the week ahead, week prior, technical challenges and progress on personal development
- Continuously learn and develop using a clearly defined personal learning plan
- Shadow Consultants on work packages to promote skills transfer and learning
- Supporting consultants on projects, technical issues, and vendor escalations
- Production of high-quality documentation for both internal and external use
- Update the project management system with progress, notes and time usage
- Attend customer meetings as required
- Undertake training and certification in key technical areas
- Implement technical solutions to an exact specification that has been designed by a consultant or architect
- Work with the Service team to share knowledge and troubleshooting recommendations
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experienced in troubleshooting Server Operating systems, including Active Directory
- Office 365 administration experience – mailboxes, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams
- Group Policy understanding and experience of implementing changes via GPO
- In-depth experience of troubleshooting client OS issues
- Driven, motivational, professional, with a 'can-do' attitude at all times
- Ability to prioritise workload, communicating challenges to relevant parties if required
- Ability to remain patient and supportive in a customer facing environment
- Ability to work as part of a team to deliver operational excellence
- Good relationship management; maintain a good working relationship with all staff, customer and suppliers
- Able to work with minimal supervision, communicating issues and delays at the earliest opportunity
- Proven technical background; troubleshooting problems and working on solutions to complex problems
- Full driving licence that allows you to drive in the UK and access to your own vehicle for business use
- Willingness to travel; elements are undertaken onsite over a period of days and staying away may be involved
- Experience of being on-site and working directly with customers
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (We do not currently hold a visa sponsorship licence)
Desirable:
- Experienced in deploying devices via Intune and automation
- Microsoft certification in Azure and/or Windows Server, or equivalent experience
- Understanding of core networking principals – DNS, DHCP, routing and NTP
